How to play
The game
Two real cars appear side by side. Depending on the mode, pick the one that is older or newer: the one whose production or reveal year came first or last.
Click or tap a car to answer. Both years are then revealed, the correct card is highlighted, and a short explanation tells you the gap between them. Press Enter for the next round.
Years are never shown before you answer. Each car's photograph, name and manufacturer are all you get to go on.
Scoring
- Streak: consecutive correct answers. One wrong answer resets it to zero.
- Best: your highest streak, kept between visits.
- Correct and Rounds: lifetime totals.
- Accuracy: correct answers as a percentage of rounds played.
Statistics are stored in your browser's localStorage only. Nothing is uploaded, and clearing your browser data clears your scores. You can also reset them from Settings.
Difficulty
Difficulty controls the minimum number of years between the two cars. A wider gap is easier to judge.

- Starts easy, tightens as your streak grows
Adaptive is the default. It starts at a 15-year gap and tightens as your streak grows: 10 years at 3 correct, 5 at 6, 3 at 10, 2 at 15, and 1 year from 20 onwards. A wrong answer resets the streak and the gap widens again.
If the dataset cannot supply a pair at the requested gap, the game quietly uses the closest available pairing and says so, rather than refusing to deal a round.
Keyboard and accessibility
The whole game is playable by keyboard, mouse, touch and screen reader. Nothing requires dragging, hovering or precise pointing.

Correct and incorrect answers are marked with an icon and a text label as well as colour, so the result never depends on colour vision. Animations follow your system's reduced-motion setting, and there is a separate toggle in Settings.
A note on accuracy
Years come from Wikidata and are imported automatically. Some are production start dates, others are the year a model was first revealed. Occasional errors are inevitable, so every car links to its Wikidata page for you to check yourself.
